383_Cod_April_25_002 383_Cod_April_25_003We did it again! Departed the dock at 5am and were loaded once again with large market cod, large cod, slammer pollack and done by 9:30am. All boxes were so full, fish were falling out all over the deck.

We started out in the fleet early catching a bunch and then it slowed to a pick of smaller fish, so we took a ride on our own and found a big pile of fish with no one around. And it was non-stop…as soon as you hit the bottom you were on with a bounce or two. Slammer cod were hitting the deck as quick as we could take them off. The fish were on the move so you had to stay on top of them all the time.

Off to the haddock grounds afterwards to pick about 12 or so haddock. While fishing for haddock we must have released another 20 plus cod. We could not even get away from them.

It just doesn’t get any better and it’s been good since opening day.

There are still openings, but not many.
